Free ($0) is the full quote-to-invoice workflow — cloud sync, jobs, clients, library, and Pay now on shared invoices (Stripe + Akahu; Yardstick clips a small fee per payment). Paid adds bank link, automations, and accountant access. See Offerings.

Free means Free: no time-limited trial — open the app on $0 for as long as you like. Upgrade to Paid when you want bank connection, scheduled automations, and an accountant seat. Pay now revenue (platform clip) applies on Free and Paid.

The real problem

You don't lose money on bad work.
You lose it in the gap.

Between the job, the invoice, and the tax. Every quarter that gap costs real money — and most software makes it worse.

01
You don't know what you've actually made
The job's done — but has it been paid? What did it actually cost? That gap lives in your head, or not at all.
02
You accidentally spend the GST
The money sits in your account. It feels like yours. Then the filing date arrives and it isn't.
03
Quoted vs approved vs invoiced
You sent a quote. Did they accept it? Did you invoice the right amount? Three different things, three different places.
04
You reconstruct it all at filing time
From memory, bank statements, and messages. Every quarter is a mini-crisis. It doesn't have to be.

FAQ

Common questions
straight answers.

No. Free is its own $0 tier — not a preview of Paid. Stay on Free for the core workflow and Pay now (platform clip when clients pay). Upgrade to Paid for bank link, automations, and accountant access.

Not for Free. There is no card on file, no “trial ends” clock, and no surprise downgrade — create and send invoices on the Free plan for as long as you want. If you later choose Paid, you add payment then.

Daybook calculates GST on every invoice automatically — 15%, every time, no thinking required. Line items and totals stay consistent if you edit and re-send, so you are not rebuilding the maths in a spreadsheet. On Paid: connect your bank, then automatically move a prudent GST portion into your nominated savings pocket when you get paid — it does not pay IRD for you; it keeps cash organised. Until that ships, GST stays visible on each document.

Yes — Daybook is built mobile-first. Create an invoice from the car park, copy the link and share it however you like — WhatsApp, email, or text from your own phone — before you've pulled out of the driveway. Your client gets a clean link that works on anything. They don't need to install a thing.

Your data is yours. We never sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising. It's stored securely and you can export it at any time. We're a NZ company — your data stays in NZ.

You mark the invoice paid (or your client pays through a flow you arrange). Today that is manual bookkeeping inside Daybook. Roadmap: when bank feeds and sweeps are live on paid tiers, Daybook will move a conservative GST-related amount into your separate bank pocket so you always know what you have set aside for filing — still not an IRD payment by itself.

The plan is to connect via Akahu (or equivalent NZ open banking) for read access to match transactions, plus explicit consent for any set-aside transfer between your own accounts you turn on. Read-only feeds never move money by themselves. Follow release notes — connection is not live until we ship it.

No. The price you sign up at is the price you keep — forever. We don't raise prices on existing customers. That's a promise, not a marketing line.
